Our Vision

A newly constructed Gompers Park playground will welcome and engage children of diverse ages, abilities, cultures, and interests by offering a design that:

• Fosters the growth of a diverse, dynamic community gathering place
• Appropriately challenges children of different ages and levels of development
• Encourages imaginative, interactive play
•  Promotes fun and positive interaction between older and younger generations
• Provides for the safety of its patrons
• Complies with American with Disabilities Act requirements for accessibility

 By including updated materials and equipment such as:  

• Soft surface ground cover to replace dangerously thin layers of wood chips
• Safer toddler areas
• Challenging equipment for older children
• Shaded sitting areas within playground
• Game tables for use by all ages
• More protection from busy Foster Ave and better control of traffic

These are a few of the items on the wish list that organically grew from our fun brainstorming sessions. The design phase cannot officially begin until the Gompers Park Playground Renovation Committee meets the fund raising goals set by the Chicago Park District.
