The pressure is on for our community
to find the remaining funding, and your financial help is critical.
The
Chicago Park District isready to begin renovations now, however, we cannot begin without full funding. Your donation is
urgently needed to ensure the successful construction of this exciting
improvement to our park and neighborhood.
“Fund the Fun" offers special incentives for your financial
contribution.
A complete list of donor levels is below, explaining the many great ways in which we can show
our appreciation for your support. We are sure there is a level
right for you. Time is ticking and kids are anxiously awaiting to
hear if the excavators and other cool construction equipment are on
their way to Gompers to build their playground!
Work with us and our partners to “Fund
the Fun.”
A total of $450,000.00 is required to build the new
playground, and over 94% of the funding is all set, with
the playground fund missing the final $32,000, to fill the
gap. With so many facilities requiring renovations, the Chicago
Park District has generously partnered with park groups to find ways to
fund these necessary improvements. Commitments of public funding
have already been made by the Chicago Park District, State
Representative John D’Amico of the 15th District, and our 39th Ward
Alderman, Margaret Laurino, recognizing the importance of this project
and the efforts of our community to make it a reality.
Our
vision for the playground goes beyond new slides and swings, to be a
dynamic new place for the children to safely play and our diverse
Chicago community to connect. A safe, fun, welcoming, and
engaging place for all families to gather, bring their babies to take
their first steps, watch toddlers learn to climb, and collectively
observe them grow into imaginative children who know one another and
play together.
Building a playground builds community, and
building community can help build other good things for our
neighborhood such as safer streets, better schools, increased property
value, and a higher quality of life for all to enjoy.

collaboration between the community and park district to create the
right plan for our park Remember, the Chicago Park District has stated
the project will be out to bid for construction, and ready for
renovations to begin this year – if funding allows!
